RMUTL Welcomes New Zealand Ambassador to Strengthen Academic Ties

On 21 May 2025, Rajamangala University of Technology Lanna (RMUTL) had the honour of welcoming H.E. Mr. Jonathan Kings, New Zealand Ambassador to Thailand, during his official visit to the university’s main campus in Chiang Mai. Representing the university, Associate Professor Dr. Teerasak Urajananon, Vice President for Council Affairs, along with Assistant Professor Dr. Thitiporn Phanthachang and staff from the International Relations Office, hosted the ambassador. The delegation engaged in productive discussions focused on expanding academic exchange, joint research, and postgraduate opportunities. RMUTL has a history of sending faculty to pursue advanced studies in New Zealand, particularly in fields such as applied linguistics and design thinking. Following the meeting, Ambassador Kings toured the university’s art and design facilities, including the Lanna Lacquerware and Lai Kham Exhibition at the RMUTL Art Gallery in Jed Yod. The exhibition showcases traditional Northern Thai lacquer art, known as "Lai Kham," which features intricate gold leaf patterns and is a hallmark of Lanna cultural heritage .
